You can reset your DartDoc password by clicking on the "Forgot Password?" link on the DartDoc Login screen. If this does not work, or you have also forgotten your username, contact the DartDoc office.
The first time you use DartDoc you will need to register and create your own username and password. Choose one of the “register” links on the DartDoc Main Page to go to the registration form. Please note that you must either select “Dartmouth, Tuck, Thayer, Guest Borrowers & Alumni” or “Life Sciences, Geisel, DHMC, MHCDS & TDI users.” There is no need to register twice, just choose one library and register. You can update your profile to change your pickup location at any time.
To fill out a new request, login to your DartDoc account and select the type of material you want to request under the 'New Request' section of the left menu bar. Fill out the form providing as much information about the item as possible.
If you have found an item through a search, there is often a link that allows you sign into DartDoc and will automatically fill in the request information. Look for a link with “Request,” “Get It,” “Use DartDoc” or similar language. The library catalog, summon, WorldCat, and many of the databases to which we subscribe have this function.
Renewals must be made in the DartDoc system, not in your library account. You may request renewal of items borrowed for you from other libraries by logging into your DartDoc account. At the DartDoc Main Menu, find the “Checked Out Items” table. Select the item you wish to renew by clicking on the appropriate transaction number and then click on “Renew Request” in the upper left-hand corner. Renewals usually take 2-3 days to be processed. You will receive notice by email indicating whether the renewal was successful. Until this time, the original due date remains. You have within a week of the due date to place a renewal through your account; after that time, you must contact your DartDoc office and they will place the renewal for you. Lending libraries are more willing to grant renewals before the actual due date.
Login to your DartDoc account. At the DartDoc Main Menu, locate the “Outstanding Request” table or click on the “Outstanding Request” link under the "View" section of the left menu bar. From the list of your outstanding requests, click on the transaction number for the request you want to cancel or modify. Then click on the “Cancel” or “Edit” button.
Copies of articles in PDF format will be made accessible through DartDoc. You will be notified by e-mail when your requested article is available. To access the article, on the DartDoc Main Menu, locate the “Electronically Received Articles” table or click on “Electronically Received Articles” under “View” in the left menu bar. Your requests will be available for 90 days after they have been delivered. If you will need access longer than 90 days, please be sure to download or print the article.
You will be notified when an item has arrived and is ready to be picked up. You can retrieve the material by going to the circulation desk of your selected library. If the material must be used in the library, you will be notified of that and where you can access it. If an item has arrived that you no longer need, please let us know. This allows us to return the item to the lending library in a timely manner, so that it is available for the use of others. This will also help us avoid any overdue notices for items left on the hold shelf.
