Performance Scores for Solo Bass
Solo bass scores are located in the Baker Stacks on Level 1 at call numbers M56-M57.
For duos, trios, quartets, and quintets, use Advanced Search. In the first field, type "bass." In the second field, select "Call number" and "starts with (in title/call number only) from the dropdown menus. In the text box, type the letter 'M' and then the number of players in the ensemble, e.g. M2 for duos, M3 for trios, etc. On the Material Type dropdown menu, select 'Scores.'

The Jazz Bass Book by More than a player's manual, this book portrays jazz bass as a vital element of 20th century American music. Citing examples from key recordings in the jazz canon, the book defines the essence of the musical contributions made by more than 70 important jazz bassists, including Ray Brown, Eddie Gomez, Charles Mingus, Milt Hinton and many others. Building Jazz Bass Lines Book/Online Audio by Call Number: MT330 .C37 1998(Bass Builders). In this book/online audio access pack, bass legend Ron Carter illustrates step by step the basic concepts of creating bass lines; constructing lines using non-harmonic tones and diverse rhythms; playing in fast tempos; and developing tone and pitch. Includes online audio access using the unique code printed in the book with an all-star rhythm section and isolated bass parts, so players can listen to Ron play the sample written lines, practice them with the audio tracks, then create their own lines with the guitar, piano and drums backing them up. Audio is accessed online using the unique code inside the book and can be streamed or downloaded. The audio files include PLAYBACK+, a multi-functional audio player that allows you to slow down audio without changing pitch, set loop points, change keys, and pan left or right.
