Designing an Academic Poster: Archiving Your Wetterhahn Poster

Tips and tricks on how to get started with translating your research into a visually appeasing poster.

Archive Your Poster

You're done the hard work of making and presenting a poster, but now what? Submit your poster to the Dartmouth Digital Archive (DDC) in the  Wetterhahn Poster Archive.

To submit your poster, please:

  • Select the current symposium year
  • Click “Submit Work” under “Contribute” in the left hand column
  • Log-in with your NetID credentials
  • List the name & email of all contributors, and your abstract
  • If applicable list the name of the award you won as part of the description

“Why should I submit my poster?”

Great question! By archiving your poster here, you are able to have a permanent URL you can use to refer interested viewers to your poster. It is a great way to get citation for your resume. By submitting it in PDF format, you have the ability to track the number of downloads as well! The posters are indexed on Google Scholar, but the full posters are only visible when accessed via Dartmouth WiFi or VPN. These become excellent reference materials for students creating posters in the future, and for you as a record of your work. Previous posters can be found here if you would like to see how previous work has been shared.

“I would like to submit it, but I’m worried about sharing it publicly because I want to publish my research.”

That’s fair! We give you the ability to temporarily embargo (block) access to the poster record. This will still allow the abstract and citation information to be seen at the URL. If you choose this model, know that you cannot embargo it forever. We also ask that you include a cover page with the proper citation and abstract, which will be used as the thumbnail image for the poster until the embargo is lifted and the file becomes downloadable. We can help you with the format if that is needed. Please confirm with your faculty supervisor that the poster can be added to the digital commons. If they have questions, send them this page.

If you have any questions about submitting your work, please ask. We look forward to seeing your hard work archived in the library! Please contact engineering librarian Jentry Campbell at jentry.e.campbell@dartmouth.edu if you have any questions.
