  • The Journal of Asian Studies
    The Journal of Asian Studies (JAS) has played a defining role in the field of Asian studies for over 75 years. JAS publishes the very best empirical and multidisciplinary work on Asia, spanning the arts, history, literature, the social sciences, and cultural studies.

    Verge : studies in global Asias
    The journal publishes work from historians, literary and cultural scholars, sociologists, anthropologists, art historians, political scientists, and others that engages with the ways in which “globalization” requires us to understand the past, present, and futures of Asia. 
  • East Asian Science, Technology and Medicine
    Formerly Chinese Science, publishes studies on science, technology, and medicine in East Asia, greatly incorporating social science perspectives. The primary regional focus has been China, yet the journal provides articles pertaining to general Asia, and specific regional focus on Japan, Korea, Vietnam, India, and more, within a wide array of traditional and contemporary research topics.
  • Arts Asiatiques
    Arts Asiatiques publishes research on art, archaeology, and material culture of Asia. The journal covers a broad geographic and thematic range, featuring articles in both French and English. Available in print from 2016 to the present at Sherman Art Library, available online from 1962 to 2023.

    Journal of Asian American Studies (JAAS) explores all aspects of Asian American experiences through original articles detailing new theoretical developments, research results, methodological innovations, public policy concerns, and pedagogical issues.

    The Most Comprehensive Western-language Resource for Research on Asia, the Bibliography of Asian Studies (BAS) is intended for students and scholars interested in any aspect, discipline or sub-region of Asia. Through its extensive bibliographical coverage, it is an excellent means for discovering citations and the full-text of Western-language journal articles, review articles, conference proceedings and chapters in edited volumes and Festschriften published anywhere in the world that deal with East, Southeast and South Asia and with the overseas Asian communities.

  • Mobilizing East Asia Online: Newspapers, magazines and books from the 1900s-1950s
    Mobilizing East Asia offers a carefully selected and tightly organized range of essential English-language newspapers, magazines, pamphlets and books following the descent into war in East and South-East Asia from the turn of the twentieth century to the 1950s. This exciting collection of newspapers and lavishly illustrated magazines, often in colour, shows the route from the defeat of Russia by Japan to Japan’s own defeat, through seismic upheaval in China and the onset of systemic change in Asia.

    This resource brings together manuscript, printed and visual primary source materials for the study of 'Empire' and its theories, practices and consequences. The materials span across the last five centuries and are accompanied by a host of secondary learning resources including scholarly essays, maps and an interactive chronology.

  • Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Asian History
    Designed to cover the entire sweep of Asian history in its broadest definition, from prehistory to the present and into the future. Provides access to state-of-the-art research and also connects readers to the full range of internet resources for research and teaching, including audio, visual, video materials, digitized archives, and other primary sources. Contributors to the ORE are professional historians, independent scholars as well as faculty at institutions around the world. Their essays provide a comprehensive overview of each subject and a brief historiography that will indicate how scholarship has been developing and locate their own contribution. Authors will update their entries in response to feedback from readers and new developments in the field.

    If prompted to log in, use ID and password: "guest". This is a compilation of Buddhist technical terminology texts, temples, schools, persons, etc. that are found in East Asian Buddhist canonical sources. Since much of what East Asian Buddhists have written about is the Buddhism of India, Central Asia, and Tibet, the content of this database / dictionary / encyclopedia / translation glossary is pan-Buddhist in character. Dictionaries and other reference sources are in many East Asian languages (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Pali, Sanskrit and Tibetan).
