CMIE CPdx - How to Register for an account and download data.

Dartmouth Library now subscribes to Consumer Pyramids dx (CPdx) from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE). It includes the Consumer Pyramids Household Survey which is the world's largest household panel survey, a continuous survey of more than 174,000 households in India. It also includes a Longitudinal Survey, a large panel of sample households surveyed repeatedly over time, and a Fast-Frequency Survey, a survey conducted comprehensively thee times a year. Dartmouth Library's subscription provides access to these surveys' microdata.

Registering for an account.

  • Every Dartmouth user needs to have their own username and password to access the CPdx website. For this, you need to register here.
  • Be sure to register using your Dartmouth email address.
  • On registration, you will receive an email from "p.intimation@cmie.com" with your unique username and password.

Downloading the data.

  • IMPORTANT - If off-campus connect to GlobalProtect VPN first.
  • Go to the CPdx web site: https://consumerpyramidsdx.cmie.com/
  • Log in.
  • Select the desired CPdx module (People Of Indiadx, Aspirational Indiadx, Income Pyramidsdx or Consumption Pyramidsdx).
  • Click on "Data Download" option on the menu bar.
  • Click on the desired output format.
