Economics

Begin your research with resources recommended by the economics subject librarian, John Cocklin (john.cocklin@dartmouth.edu). Here you will find the key databases, indexes, datasets, and reference works in economics.

Finance and Money - Intro

This is a guide to the various financial databases available to the Dartmouth community. Thanks to support from the Tuck School of Business and Dartmouth's Arts and Sciences, the Library subscribes to a wide range of financial databases. This guide is designed specifically for students enrolled in econ 66, but others will find it helpful as well. Use the links on the left to find sources for specific types of data such as stock prices, bond yields, and company fundamentals.

Finding the data is just the first step. Wrangling the data and preparing it for analysis is the second. If you have questions about using Stata, you can visit the Stata Refresher guide here:

Many of the databases are provided through Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS) which requires an account. Information on how Dartmouth faculty and students can obtain an account can be found at the following Research Guide. Faculty can also obtain an account for a class.

A common need in econ 66 is to match company identifiers between databases. The following research guide from Princeton will help.
