This guide is meant to be a resource for Dartmouth students, faculty, and staff to learn more about Generative AI and the potential use in the research process and academic publishing. Generative AI tools can be a useful addition to your research process. New tools are constantly emerging and existing tools continue to evolve. It is important to think critically about the tools you use. While you don't need to understand the underlying technology of how the tools work, you do need to know the basic premise of how they function and for many tools, what information they are drawing from.
