I land on this error a lot (particularly for Gale databases).  Usually reloading the page will work.

Most of our licensed databases are authenticated by IP address, and require a connection to the dartmouth.edu network.  While VPN is (usually) the most stable option, we've scripted many links to use a proxy server (EZ Proxy).  Unfortunately, not all databases are compatible, so you may land on the following error:

You should be able to follow the link in the error message text, but another workaround is to delete the following portion of a URL: "https://dartmouth.idm.oclc.org/login?url="

Sometimes updates to our library catalog *replace* rather than edit a catalog record.  You may occasionally stumble on links to replaced records with an error similar to this.  You'll need to manually search the title in our catalog to find the new record
