Human Relations Area Files (HRAF) - Ethnography & Archaeology
An extensive collection of ethnographies, cataloged in detail, mapping specialized subject codes to specific cultures and archaeological traditions. We have the older microfiche in the Jones Media Center, but many of the cultures have been included in the online collection (with new material added).
The system allows you to quickly identify relevant sections of books, but the formatting of both the microfiche & online versions is unfriendly. I usually discover a title using HRAF, and then check the library catalog to see if we own a paper copy.
A virtual encyclopedia of the world's musical and aural traditions, this collection provides a variety of online resources, including streaming audio, that support the creation, continuity, and preservation of diverse musical forms.
