STEM Library & Learning Resources - Undergraduates

STEM resource guide for Dartmouth undergraduates

Off-Campus Access

We recommend reaching out to one of STEM librarians early on in your time at Dartmouth to get set up with all the workflows listed below. The sooner you become familiar with a tool the easier it is to use it to when needed.

VPN

When you are off-campus you will have to connect to the Dartmouth VPN to ensure to access to library services and software. This is especially true when you are traveling for intersession or just plan on working from somewhere not close the main Dartmouth Campus.

EZProxy Log-In

If the Dartmouth VPN fails to connect, you are not entirely without access to library resources! Navigate to library.dartmouth.edu, and access the materials directly from the library search. You may be prompted to log in with your Dartmouth Credentials and this does not work for all resources. In other words, just use a link to the resource from one of the library’s pages (such as the library catalog or a research guide). You may be prompted to login using your netID, but there is no need to download software.

Lean Library Browser Extension

Lean Library is a browser extension that will give you directions to full-text articles, ebooks, and more through the Dartmouth Library for most academic sites that we provide access to. This is especially useful when off campus and no longer on the Dartmouth WiFi. This plug-in works with Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera, and Safari.

If Dartmouth subscribes to a resource you will be directed to the link and if not, you should be given the option to request the item through Interlibrary Loan. If you select the to request the item from Interlibrary Loan, the extension will populate the request for you.
