Intern, Fellow, and Resident research resources: Patient education

DynaMed provides patient information from trusted sources and partners at the bottom of Topic pages. From the search results page, click the hamburger to quickly navigate to "Patient Information" or open the topic page and use the left-hand navigation to scroll down to the "Patient Information" section.

Use Lexicomp to find patient educational packets with information on medication, conditions, and/or procedures. All content is available in English and Spanish. From the Lexicomp homepage, click the tab along the top for "Patient Education" and browse the library or search.

Find patient handouts in English, French, and Spanish on Natural Medicines with plain language information on herbs and supplements. Natural Medicine's patient handouts include effectiveness ratings, information on safety concerns, possible medication interactions, and dosage information. To find patient handouts, use the main search box to search for a drug or supplement, click into the desired drug or supplement, and the patient handouts will be in the top left of the page.

UpToDate offers two levels of patient education materials--Basics (5th-6th grade reading level) and Beyond the Basics (10th-12th grade reading level). From the UpToDate homepage, click the down arrow on the "Contents" tab, and click "Patient Education." Browse by category. You'll also find links to patient materials from certain topic pages on UpToDate--using the lefthand navigation, scroll down to "Information for Patients."
