The IDB helps the U.S. government and the public answer fundamental questions about the people and places of the world. These data inform program planning, policymaking, educational, and research data users. The Bureau has produced these data since the 1960s, and they have published the results on census.gov since 1996. They regularly update the IDB and release the results online. Along with the United Nations Population Division, the U.S. Census Bureau is one of the few organizations in the world that regularly estimates and projects the world’s population. ...

IPUMS International

"Large machine-readable census micro-data samples exist for many countries, but access to these data has been limited and the documentation is often inadequate. Even where such micro-data are available for scholarly research, comparisons across countries or time periods are difficult because of inconsistencies in both data and documentation. IPUMS-International addresses these issues by converting census micro-data for multiple countries into a consistent format, supplying comprehensive documentation, and making the data and documentation available through a web-based data dissemination system."
