Library Resources for Faculty

A quick guide for library resources and services that faculty need.

Your Subject Librarian

Meet your librarian, your go-to person in the Library.

How might you work with your liaison librarian?

  • Collaborate on course assignments.
  • Invite a librarian to provide customized instruction in your course.
  • Request additions to our collections, including monographs and databases.
  • Provide feedback on our collections to help with our decisions around budgets and spaces.
  • Receive support for your research and connect with specialized resources and staff in the library.
  • Direct students to a librarian for assistance with their research and assignments.

Research Guides

Librarians create guides to help researchers get started in specific disciplines and courses. Canvas integrates these guides into your course under the left navigation heading, "Library Reserves/Guides." You can work with your Librarian to create a customized course-specific guide.

Course Reserves

Make class materials available to your students electronically using Course Reserves. Physical and electronic books, audio, video, and digital items may be placed on reserve.

Remote Access

You can access the Dartmouth Library’s online journals, books, and databases from anywhere in the world, using GlobalConnect VPN or simply by following the Library’s links, which use a service called EZProxy to connect you.

Interlibrary Loan

Request interlibrary loan of physical items from other libraries, delivery of items from other campus libraries, or get scanned articles or book chapters delivered electronically. Create your account today!

Ask Us!

Encourage students to connect with librarians via chat for real-time help or to get email support. They can even schedule a Zoom consultation with a reference librarian!

Library Events

The Library hosts a number of events throughout the year - from book talks by faculty authors, to workshops, exhibits, and more.
