Library Resources for Arts & Sciences Faculty

A quick guide for library resources and services that Arts & Sciences faculty need.

Welcome!

Welcome to the Dartmouth Libraries! This FAQ-style guide is here to help you find the resources you need for your teaching and research. We've grouped information based on commonly asked questions we get on accessing our collections, resources for your teaching, and research services that we provide.

If you can't find an answer to your question here, reach out to your Subject Librarian!

What is a Subject Librarian?

Your subject librarian is your go-to person in the Library. We are the librarians that work directly with you, your colleagues, and your students to support research and the curriculum at Dartmouth. Our librarians have advanced subject-area expertise as well as extensive training in library and information science.

How might you work with your librarian?

  • Collaborate on course assignments.
  • Invite a librarian to provide customized instruction in your course.
  • Request additions to our collections, including books, journals, and databases.
  • Provide feedback on our collections to help with our decisions around budgets and spaces.
  • Receive support for your research and connect with specialized resources and staff in the library.
  • Direct students to a librarian for assistance with their research and assignments.
