There are a few steps you should do before requesting the Library purchase a film. Also, please note there are no Rush orders for streaming media.
- Confirm the film title is not in the online catalog. We may have the title in more than one format. Please check the catalog!
- If you find the film in the online catalog, include the title in your list for Baker Reserves in Canvas. Reserves will handle placing the film in Canvas under your course.
- If you don't find the title in the online catalog, email your library liaison the information about the film. Let them know specifics including title, year and director.
- If you want the streaming format, let your department library liaison know that also. Please note that we can't order streaming media on a Rush. All licenses must go through Procurement, a department outside of the Library, before approval. That takes time.
- If the film is only available through a commercial streaming service such as Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, etc., we can't get that film unless it is available on DVD/Blu-ray.
- We are prioritizing film purchases for course use. Therefore, we will not purchase films for entertainment purposes, general interest or curiosity outside of a package such as SWANK. The costs for educational licenses have risen dramatically.
- Lastly, list all films wanted for a course to Baker Reserves in Canvas along with requests for print materials. List all of the films wanted even if we don't have them. We will investigate purchasing the films. If there is a problem, we will let you know.
